Fetes De Bayonne

Bayonne, France 29th July – 2nd August 2015

Located in the southwest of France, the city of Bayonne plays host to France’s largest festival, attracting more than one million visitors every year. It started in 1932, when a local rugby club decided to try and replicate the San Fermin festival of Pamplona, famous for the running of the bulls.
Today, the Fetes de Bayonne is a five day celebration featuring a diverse range of attractions and activities to suit every age and interest. From parades, to sports competitions, live music concerts, bull runs and even omelette competitions! The festival starts with the keys to the city being thrown from the City Hall balcony down to the people below, and ends with a huge firework display. Traditional dress of white clothes, a red scarf and a red belt are worn by locals, making the whole thing a spectacle not to be missed.

There is a range of local hotels and B&Bs to try, however book early as demand will be high.
