1. Woolacombe Bay, Devon

Woolacombe Bay holds the VisitEngland Awards For Excellence gold award for best family resort. Three miles of beautiful golden sands, this beach is famous for its cleanliness, water quality and facilities.

2. Huisinis, Isle of Harris, Scotland

This beach will take your breath away, not only for its beauty but also its remoteness. Don’t expect to bump into an ice cream van!

3. Talisker Bay, Skye

This beach on the west coast of sky is one of the few sandy beaches on the island, with its huge cliffs either end, you may not get to sunbathe but will be in awe of its beauty.

4. Southwold, Suffolk

A seaside town with golden sands and a promenade for a beautiful stroll.

5. Abersoch, Gwynedd

This beautiful sweep of beach is sheltered from the elements so good for sunbathing and watersports alike.

6. Marloes Sands, Pembrokeshire

This is a comparitvely uncommercialised beach, but having recently made into a Hollywood movie, the visitors are likely to start flooding in. Enjoy great views out to Skokholm, an uninhabited wildlife reserve.

7. Porthmeor Beach, St Ives, Cornwall

8. Sandbanks, Poole

Holder of the European Blue Flag in 2013 for a record 26 years, this beach has beautiful golden sands and is becoming increasingly well known for the lavish lifestyles of the rich and famous that live nearby.

9. Blackpool Sands, Devon

The 'other' Blackpool, is an award-winning privately managed family beach offering family-friendly attractions and a range of delicious food and a beach shop.

10. Watergate Bay, Cornwall
