How can I buy an Allianz Global Assistance breakdown policy?
Will I be given a cheaper quote if a call your customer service team?
We don't differentiate our prices from our website to our call centre, you can purchase the policy online or over the phone and there won't be any changes on the prices offered to you.
Our customer service team can give you information on our breakdown cover levels or process your payment over the phone.
Is breakdown cover worth spending money on?
For as little as £36.50* a year you can take out our Bronze Breakdown Cover and call on our experienced technicians in the event of a breakdown, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
We pick up the cost of recovery and an hour of repair work at the roadside as standard, so you save on call out fees and vehicle recovery.
Our most comprehensive cover levels (Gold Breakdown Cover and Gold Plus European Breakdown Cover) also cover the costs of getting you and up to 7 passengers to your desired destination in the UK or Europe (depending on the cover level you choose). This includes overnight accommodation, cost towards onward transport or a courtesy car. Costs are also covered for you to travel to collect the vehicle once it’s fixed and a vehicle recovery service if you fill up with the wrong fuel or misplace your keys.

What happens if I change my vehicle?
Any change of vehicle must be notified immediately as we can only assist vehicles registered on our database. Providing the vehicle has no major modifications and is in the same age band as the existing vehicle being covered, there will be no change in premium. We will charge a £10 administration fee where this is requested.
Can I pay monthly?
Currently, we only offer annual breakdown policies that you can purchase for a one off premium by credit or debit card.

We offer 4 levels of breakdown cover to suit your driving needs:

Will you cover my vehicle?
For Bronze, Silver and Gold cover levels we cover passenger cars up to 15 years old, although some vehicle exclusions apply.
For Gold Plus European Breakdown Cover we cover passenger cars up 10 years old.
For Van Breakdown Cover we cover light commercial vehicles up to 10 years old, providing they do not exceed 3,500kg in weight (including load), 7 metres in length, 3.0 metres in height and 2.3 metres in width. (European Breakdown Cover is not available).
All vehicles must be privately registered in the United Kingdom and used for social, domestic, pleasure and commuting purposes only.
Will I be covered in the UK and Europe?
Bronze, Silver and Gold Breakdown cover levels only cover your vehicle in the UK.
Gold Plus European Breakdown Cover (unavailable for vans/light commercial vehicles) provides breakdown assistance in the UK and across Continental Europe.
Does Gold Plus European Breakdown Cover also include cover in the UK?
Yes. Our Gold Plus European Breakdown Cover policy provides our highest level of cover, so you can request breakdown assistance in the UK and Continental Europe.
How long does my cover last for in Europe with a Gold Plus European Breakdown Cover policy?
Trips to Europe must not last longer than 31 days and travel must not exceed 90 days in total during the period of cover.
Where in Europe am I covered with a European Breakdown Cover policy?
We cover Continental Europe, and here is the definition of which countries are included: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the Vatican City.
How many times can I request breakdown assistance?
We offer a maximum of 5 call outs per annum.
What’s your procedure in bad weather conditions?
In adverse weather conditions such as high winds, snow, ice or floods it can be impractical for us to provide our usual breakdown assistance service. Our top priority in these conditions is the wellbeing of you and your passengers, so we will first recover you and your passengers to a place of safety, and attend to the vehicle at a later time.
Are caravans and trailers covered?
If your vehicle breaks down when towing a caravan or trailer we will arrange for your caravan or trailer to be taken near to the repairer, providing it doesn’t exceed 3,500 kg in weight (including load), 7 metres in length, 3.0 metres in height or 2.3 metres in width. Any repairs to the caravan or trailer itself won’t be covered.
Motor homes are not covered.
When does my cover start and end?
There is a limitation on the start policy date of at least 2 days from the purchase date, but you can select your preferred start date during the process to purchase the policy. Your policy start date is shown on your confirmation email, that you'll receive up to 4 hours from the moment you complete the purchase.
Your breakdown cover ends 365 days after your policy start date.
How can I renew my breakdown cover?
We will send you a renewal notice at least 21 days prior to the expiration date shown on your confirmation email.
You can then choose to renew online, or call our customer service team on 0345 600 2385, lines are open 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.
You must renew your policy no more than 1 day prior to your policy expiration date, after this date you will only be eligible to purchase a new breakdown policy with us.
How can I amend or upgrade my breakdown cover?
To make a change to your existing policy give our customer service team a call on 0345 600 2385, lines are open 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Can I cancel my breakdown cover?
If you feel the cover we offer no longer suits your needs, you can cancel within 14 days of the policy purchase date.
If you choose to cancel after this 14-day period, you will be entitled to a pro-rata refund providing no claims have been paid under the policy. You will be charged a £25 administration fee. If you wish to cancel and have made a claim under the policy, we are entitled to recover all costs for the service provided.
