Group Travel Insurance and Couples Travel Insurance

If you take out group travel insurance, every member of your travelling party can be insured under the same policy. With our travel insurance for groups, there’s no need for policy members to be related, and you can include all your party on one policy. So, whether you’re travelling as part of a wedding party, visiting another country with a local club or just heading on a beach break with some friends, a group travel insurance policy could be a great solution for you.

However, if you’re travelling with a significant other, then you may find that couples travel insurance is a better choice. Plus, couples travel insurance could end up being cheaper than buying individual policies, because we offer a couples discount. To see whether our couples travel insurance is right for you, simply click ‘Get a Quote.’

Below is some more information about our products, for which Terms and Conditions apply. Please visit the policy information hub for full details.

If you’re heading abroad, either as a couple or a group, then travel insurance is always worthwhile. After all, even if you’re going somewhere close by, the unexpected can still happen. For example, your flight could be cancelled, you may be targeted by pickpockets while getting some holiday snaps, or you could fall ill.

But if you take out a group travel insurance policy, you’ll have cover in case something does happen. If you’ve taken out group travel insurance, we can help protect you against medical bills, flight delays or stolen possessions. So, whether you’re heading to the beach, hitting the slopes on a skiing holiday, venturing on a backpacking holiday or making the most of your retirement, travel insurance is essential. With our group travel insurance policies, you can enjoy peace of mind from the second you book to the moment you return home.

At Allianz Assistance, we offer a level of insurance that’s appropriate for most travellers. Different policies provide varying levels of cover, therefore it’s important that you read your policy documents carefully and understand exactly what you’re covered for.

Our Single Trip, Annual and Backpacker policies all suit different needs. Plus, we offer three different levels of cover - Bronze, Silver and Gold – so you can choose the cover with the claim limits that meets your needs. Depending on which policy and level of cover you choose, you’ll be covered for:

  • Cancelling or cutting short your trip
  • Emergency medical and associated expenses
  • Loss of passport*
  • Delayed personal possessions
  • Lost, stolen or damaged personal possessions*
  • Loss of money*
  • Personal accident
  • Missed departures
  • Delayed departures
  • Personal liability
  • Legal expenses
  • End-supplier failure**

*Not available with Bronze level cover.

**Only available with Gold level cover.

Terms and Conditions apply.

If you’re planning to take part in any fun activities while you’re away on holiday, then you may also need to purchase an add-on to ensure you’re fully covered. Our Winter Sports and Ski insurance allows you to hit the slopes with confidence.
To qualify for couples travel insurance on our Single Trip and Backpacker policies you’ll need to buy the insurance together and have the same trip dates. With our Annual policy, while you must buy the policy together and have it start on the same date, you are covered to travel independently throughout the policy year.

It’s easy to organise and book travel insurance for groups. As part of our Single Trip and Annual group travel insurance policies, your travelling party can be placed on the same policy, please note there is an uppr age limit of 80 on our Single Trip policies and 65 on our Annual policies. If you’re searching for Backpacker insurance, the upper age limit is 50.

In order to get a quote for your group travel insurance policy, you’ll just need to tell us the type of policy you’d like (Single Trip or Annual), where you’re going on holiday, the age of all those travelling and whether you require any additional cover. You’ll then be given a quote for Bronze, Silver and Gold level of cover. The same information will be needed to be able to get a quote for Backpacker insurance.

If anybody on the policy has any pre-existing medical conditions we are temporarily unable to provide cover for these, while we make improvements to the booking engine of our website. This offer will be reintroduced once the updates have been made and we’ll also be able to extend the offer to our Annual group travel insurance policy.

If you’re going on holiday in a group, you may find that buying a group travel insurance policy is easier and less time consuming than buying individual policies for each person.

By placing every member of the group on the same travel insurance policy, you’ll know that everyone has the same level of cover, and you’ll only need to carry one set of policy documents.

Similarly, if you take out couples travel insurance, you can rest easy knowing you’re both protected by the same policy, and it’ll save you the hassle of buying multiple policies.

Having a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) will entitle you to the government-provided healthcare of the European Union country you are visiting, lowering the medical costs you would normally expect to pay. Although this is a good addition to take on holiday, having a travel insurance policy as well could provide you with further protection and peace of mind whilst you are abroad. Our travel insurance policies can protect you against many unforeseen eventualities.

A lot of bank accounts or credit cards come with varying levels of travel insurance cover. Although some may be comprehensive and suitable for most trips, they may not cover you for everything you have planned whilst you’re away. If you have adventurous plans or unusual excursions booked for your trip, you might not be covered. Make sure you look into the travel insurance policy that you have before every trip, to make sure it’s suitable for you and your plans.

Purchasing a holiday using a credit card means you are often protected by Consumer Protection cover that is offered on purchases when a provider defaults and you are unable to receive your goods (or in this case, go on your holiday). This means that, in most cases, you can get your money returned to you before going on your trip.

If you have booked a holiday through a tour operator or travel agent, it may be worth checking if you are covered by ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents) or ATOL (Air Travel Organiser’s License). This type of cover means that your package holiday is protected if, for example, the travel company providing your holiday arrangements or the travel agent themselves fail financially or close down. Your travel agents will be able to tell you if your holiday is ABTA or ATOL protected. Alternatively, use the links provided to check your cover at home.
If you’re planning to go skiing with your other half in La Plagne or take a group break to Borovets, then our Winter Sports and Ski insurance allows you to put everyone on the same policy.
