If you’re looking for a trip filled with adventure, culture and amazing atmosphere, Vietnam could be the perfect destination for you. Vietnam is a country teeming with delicious food and drink, rich history and streets jam-packed with motorbikes! Vietnam remains a top tourist destination because even though it has busy cities, it has managed to retain its natural beauty and its unique culture.

There is something for everyone in Vietnam. When exploring the country you can expect to find beautiful rivers, for example, the Mekong River. You can explore caves, such as the Son Doong Cave, which is the biggest cave in the world. Browse through large markets throughout the country and dine on freshly caught seafood. Vietnam can satisfy the adventurer, the historian and the foodie all at the same time.

Vietnam is also well-known for its areas of outstanding natural beauty. Visit the breath-taking UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Halong Bay archipelago. This beautiful tourist spot is home to a cluster of around 1,600 islands, creating an amazing view of the land, sky and ocean all at the same time. Another outstanding place to visit in Vietnam is Sapa in the Northwest of the country. Sapa is home to rich green, rippling rice terraces which are remarkable to see.

There is also plenty to see and learn about in a historical sense when you visit Vietnam. Explore the Ho Chi Ming tunnels that the Vietnamese used in the Vietnam War to evade the American soldiers. Explore the historic Khat Dinh Tomb, where you can see the ancient stone statues that line up in front of the monument. There are so many more amazing sites to see when you explore Vietnam.

The official language in Vietnam is Vietnamese. However, English is becoming favoured as a second language. It might be useful to learn some Vietnamese phrases to enable easier communication with the locals before your visit. Also, don’t forget to change your currency into Vietnamese Dong.

Vietnam suffers from high levels of air pollution, this may cause issues for people who suffer from heart, lung or respiratory conditions. If you have one of these conditions, look at the air quality of the place that you want to travel to in Vietnam, and speak to a GP to better understand the risks to you, given your particular medical history. Furthermore, Vietnamese law requires all people in the country to carry photographic ID at all times.

In Vietnam, it is very common for the locals to travel by motorbike. However, the roads are very busy and may be different to what you’re used to when driving within the UK.
