Why do I need adventure sports cover?

Sports and leisure activities are great fun, but each activity comes with its own level of risk and unpredictability. Even if you’re only taking part in low-risk activities, things can still go wrong. For example, you could fall and twist your ankle while you’re out jogging, you could take a nasty bump while playing beach sports or you could become ill and need medical attention after scuba-diving.

Which sports and leisure activities are included?

Regardless of whether you’re looking to try some aerial activities, head below the surface of the water or keep your feet firmly planted on dry land, our sports travel insurance covers many of the sports and leisure activities* that most holidaymakers love, including: Cycling Sailing Trekking, hiking, walking or hill walking Motorcycling Scuba-diving Snorkelling Horse riding and pony trekking Bungee jumping Parachute jumping Hot air ballooning Watersports like jet-skiing, parasailing, kayaking and waterskiing These are some of the most popular activities that people ask us about, but we also offer cover for other activities, too. Can I get cover for any sports activities that aren't currently listed in the policy documents?

If you’re heading away and you’re planning to take part in a sport or leisure activity that you cannot see on our list, our sports travel insurance may still be able to cover you. Please phone us on 020 8603 9653 to find out. Please be aware that, if we agree to cover you, then you may need to pay an extra premium.

Do I need additional cover to partake in winter sports?

If you’re planning to take part in winter sports like skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing, then you won’t be covered by our sports travel insurance and you should consider the additional protection that’s provided by our Winter Sports and Ski cover. This will then protect you against risks that are unique to this type of activity, such as avalanche closures, unused ski-pack costs if you need to cancel or cut short your trip, delayed or damaged ski equipment and piste closures.

Can I get travel insurance for sports activities with a pre-existing medical condition?

We provide cover for people with pre-existing medical conditions under our Single Trip and Backpacker policies, which means you may be able to get sports travel insurance if you have a pre-existing medical condition. Before you book your policy, it’s very important that you tell us about any pre-existing medical conditions you suffer from. This is because it’s unlikely that we will pay any claim for medical expenses, trip cancellation or cutting short a trip if it relates to a medical condition that you have not told us about. By telling us about any pre-existing mental and physical conditions you have, we can tailor your policy to you and make sure you have the cover you need in case something doesn’t go to plan. Sadly, if you fail to declare a condition, you won’t be covered. So, if you’re in doubt, please declare your condition. Terms and Conditions apply.

What do our policies include?
